FACTS Update/Status

·        We are 67% ready towards meeting the September 28th deadline. 

·        Special thanks to Mike Lindsey, Ausey Johnson and Carla Knight.

·        We are not ready to evaluate the system yet (demonstration).  The lack of timely responses from involved parties has become a problem.

·        Lindsey, Freeman and Knight will randomly select several SASS / Registration users to participate in an in-house testing/evaluation of the FACTS system.

 

Powertools Training - September 22, 1999-Tampa, Florida

·        Mr. Austin, Lindsey, Ying and Fitz will be leaving on the 28th for the 29th meeting. 

·        Web application uses will be the focus of this session.

·        FAMU does have a powertools signon

 

FACTS New Hire

Mr. Mitchell is having to readvertise for the FACTS position.  He has gotten many applications forwarded to him of persons who are not remotely qualified.  The search continues.

 

Connectivity

·        The FACTS tech team is following up on connectivity status of FACTS committee members.

·        At least a PENTIUM and network access must be available to access FACTS.

·        Areas coming in via modem connections must have a dedicated telephone line.


Miscellaneous

·        The VOCOM system purchase has been approved.  It is a new telephone registration system.

·        TOPAS is scheduled for October 15.  TOPAS is an online purchase order system.

·        Financial Aid has been made the number one priority by President Humphries.  Five of UCSC staff has been assigned to this project.  The project is 80% complete.

·        Y2K/Disaster committee has only received five contingency plans.  All plans are due September 23.  Each department needs a disaster and Y2K plan.

·        The UCSC is 90% ready for Y2K.
